Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, safe, holistic healing system which helps restore harmony and balance. Natural energy flow promotes healing in the body, mind, emotions and spirit, creating a sense of wellbeing.
Reiki is Japanese in origin and the word is split into 2:
Rei – meaning ‘spiritual’ and ki – meaning ‘energy’
It is often called ‘Reiki Ryoho’ by traditional teachers – meaning ‘spiritual energy healing method’
How Reiki works
Energy or ‘ki’ flows through pathways in our bodies called meridians, keeping us alive and healthy. This energy flow can be disrupted or blocked by negative emotions we all experience such as stress, worry, fear, anger and resentment. This negative energy gets ‘stuck’ and issues of physical and mental illness, disease and pain can arise.
Reiki finds the route of problems and helps the body to restore its natural flow of ki, clearing blockages.
What to expect during a Reiki treatment.
A consultation is required before treatment to obtain health details.
Normally you are treated lying comfortably, fully clothed on a therapy couch or can be seated. There is no massage or manipulation, with a session usually lasting 45-60 minutes.
The therapist’s hands are gently placed on or over the body, using specific hand positions that correspond with the body and the chakra energy system. Often the therapist will feel instinctively which areas and chakras need attention. You may feel warmth or tingling. The energy field that surrounds the body and the chakras are gently balanced by reiki energy, in turn calming physical and emotional issues.
